Rotate PDF
Turn pages that were scanned sideways or upside down. Rotate the whole document or just the pages you list, entirely inside your browser.
Your file and options
Choose an angle and, if you want, limit it to certain pages.
This tool runs entirely inside your browser. Your file is never uploaded, never stored, and disappears when you close the page.
Result
Choose a file to rotate its pages.
About this calculator
This tool rotates the pages of a PDF by 90, 180, or 270 degrees, either all at once or on pages you choose one by one. It fixes documents that were scanned sideways or upside down without touching anything else about the file.
How to use it
- 1.Choose the PDF with pages facing the wrong way.
- 2.Pick how far to turn them: 90° clockwise, 180°, or 90° anticlockwise.
- 3.Leave the page box empty for every page, or list pages such as 2, 5-7, then download the fixed file.
Good to know
Rotation is stored as a property of the page, so nothing is re-drawn and image or text quality is completely unchanged.
Turns are added to whatever rotation a page already has, so applying 90° twice gives you 180°.
How it works in plain English
A PDF page carries its own orientation setting alongside the content itself, so rotating a page does not mean redrawing or re-encoding what is on it. Instead, the tool changes a small property attached to each page that tells any PDF viewer which way up to display it. Because the underlying text, images, and vector graphics are left completely untouched, there is no re-rendering step and no chance of the rotated page looking blurrier or lower quality than the original.
You can apply one rotation to every page in the document, useful when a whole file was scanned the wrong way, or select individual pages and rotate only those, useful when a scanner mixed portrait and landscape sheets in one batch. Each selected page can be turned 90 degrees clockwise, 180 degrees to flip it fully, or 270 degrees, which is the same as 90 degrees counter-clockwise. A preview updates as you choose angles, so you can confirm every page reads the right way up before saving.
All of this happens inside your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly PDF libraries running locally on your device. The file you open is never uploaded to a server or stored anywhere outside your browser tab; it exists only in memory while you work and is gone the moment you close or refresh the page. There is no account to create and no email address to hand over, which also means there is nothing to wait for beyond your own device processing the file.
Worked example
Say you scanned a ten-page contract and pages 3 and 7 came out sideways because those sheets were fed into the scanner rotated. You open the file in the tool, scroll to page 3, and rotate it 270 degrees so the text reads upright again, then do the same for page 7 with a 90 degree turn in the other direction since it was flipped the opposite way.
The rest of the pages are left alone, so their original orientation and quality are unchanged. Once the preview shows every page reading correctly top to bottom, you save the file and download a new PDF with the same ten pages, now all facing the right way, ready to print or send on.
Rotation angles and their effect on a page
| Angle | Effect | Common use |
|---|---|---|
| 90° | Turns the page a quarter turn clockwise | Landscape scan needs to read as portrait |
| 180° | Flips the page completely upside down | Sheet was fed into a scanner backwards |
| 270° | Turns the page a quarter turn counter-clockwise | Landscape scan rotated the opposite way from a 90° fix |
| No rotation | Page is left exactly as it was | Page already reads correctly |

Frequently asked questions
Does rotating a page reduce its quality?
No. Rotation only changes a display property stored with the page, not the underlying text, images, or graphics. Nothing is re-rendered or recompressed, so text stays sharp and images keep their original resolution. The page simply displays and prints at the new angle instead of being redrawn from scratch.
Can I rotate just one page instead of the whole document?
Yes. You can select individual pages and give each one its own rotation, which is useful when only a few sheets in a scanned batch came out sideways or upside down. Pages you do not touch keep their original orientation, so there is no need to rotate a whole document just to fix one or two pages.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server when I use this tool?
No. The entire process runs inside your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly, so the file never leaves your device. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or logged anywhere, and the document exists only in your browser's memory while the tab is open. Closing or refreshing the page clears it completely.
Do I need an account or email to rotate a PDF?
No account, sign-up, or email address is needed. You open the file, choose your rotation angles, and download the result directly, all within the same browser session. There is nothing to register for and no waiting on a confirmation step before you can use the tool.
What is the difference between 90 and 270 degrees?
90 degrees turns a page a quarter turn clockwise, while 270 degrees turns it a quarter turn the other way, counter-clockwise. They produce mirror-opposite results, so if a page looks sideways after applying one, the other angle is usually the fix that gets it reading upright correctly.
